Features & Compatibility

60/40 solder wire is an alloy made of 60% tin and 40% lead, widely recognized as the traditional standard for electronics repair, stained glass, and general electrical work. It is a bonded alloy that melts at a relatively low temperature, flows exceptionally smoothly, and creates highly reliable electrical connections.

Key Specifications
  • Melting Range: Approximately 183°C to 190°C (361°F to 374°F).
  • Alloy Type: Non-eutectic (it goes through a brief “pasty” or semi-solid state while cooling, unlike 63/37 solder which melts and solidifies at a single precise temperature).
  • Core Type: Most variants feature a rosin flux core which cleans oxidized metals during heating to ensure strong adhesion.
